"CODOS COFFEE" in Hamburg

Project details

AN EXCITING ATMOSPHERE WITH CAPTIVATING LIGHT EFFECT

A SPECIAL EXPERIENCE THROUGH REFLECTIVE METAL SURFACES

With high standards of quality, CODOS COFFEE, founded in Hamburg in 2014, has grown into a successful company. Starting out as a small shop offering coffee to go, CODOS COFFEE now offers highquality baked goods from its sister brand Black Apron Bakery, as well as its own home-roasted coffee from its in-house roastery. In addition to its Hamburg locations, further cafés have been opened in Berlin, Hildesheim and Hanover. CODOS COFFEE and Black Apron Bakery are part of Nekst GmbH & Co. KG, a company that specialise in innovative catering concepts.

CODOS COFFEE offers its guests high-quality baked goods and coffee-based drinks, set within a unique atmosphere. In collaboration with the architectural firm NOIE Studio from Hanover, all cafés were designed with the aim of creating an unforgettable experience for guests. Through the use of new materials and structures, such as the Homapal metal decor 470/636 Alu Mirror Polished Lava Natural, exciting visual effects are created that enhance the café’s ambience.

CREATING HIGH-QUALITY, UNIQUE EFFECTS FROM A STRUCTURED METAL SURFACE

The concept behind the project was to create a café that blends harmoniously into its surroundings. The atmosphere of the surrounding neighbourhood should be reflected in the café's design. In addition, the café should appeal to guests not only aesthetically, but also emotionally. As a Hanseatic city, Hamburg is characterised by its proximity to water. The undulating structure of the Homapal metal decor 470/636 Alu Mirror Polished Lava Natural, reminiscent of a turbulent water surface, creates a regional connection. The targeted use of lighting installations also allows this effect to be optimally showcased.

The challenge in planning and implementation was that the building in Hamburg was still a shell when the project began. A solution had to be found to create a high-quality café as quickly as possible that would meet the required standards.

During the conceptual planning of the project, it was quickly agreed with the customer that the use of an authentic surface was desired. Quality and authenticity were to be the focus. Following an intensive inspiration phase, Homapal was specifically selected for the design of the project. Homapal's metal laminates proved to be the ideal solution due to their aesthetic quality, versatility, and rapid availability. The 470/636 Alu Mirror Polished Lava Natural decor creates a special atmosphere with its elegant charm, transforming the back wall of the counter into a striking focal point.

“The materials fit perfectly into our concept and support the high-quality atmosphere we want to create for CODOS COFFEE.” - Michaela Beuscher, NOIE Studio for Interior Architecture, Lighting and Spatial Concepts.
