HISTORY MEETS MODERN CHARM

ELEGANT COPPER SURFACES IN THE HOSPITALITY SECTOR

The Hotel Alte Werft is located in the heart of Papenburg. Since the building was originally used as a workshop for the local Meyer shipyard in 1855, the hotel’s old walls are steeped in history. The hotel combines this rustic industrial character with the modern charm of the present day, creating an unforgettable experience.  Following extensive renovations, the hotel now offers its guests a total of 122 comfortably furnished rooms and 8 modern conference rooms that can accommodate up to 1,200 people. However, the heart of the hotel is its historic restaurant with an integrated bar and adjoining beer garden.

To preserve the historic character while incorporating modern charm, the architectural firm Wiemer was commissioned to design the restaurant’s new bar. The goal was to create a bar that blends seamlessly into the industrial architecture while still exuding a modern and sophisticated charm through high-quality finishes.

UNIQUE CHARACTER THANKS TO HOMAPAL REAL METAL FINISHES

When searching for suitable materials for this project, several criteria were key in the selection process. High quality, aesthetic appeal, and ease of installation played a significant role. As the project planning process progressed, Homapal’s real metal finishes quickly emerged as an interesting and promising solution. Due to its rustic yet high-quality surface, the 635/502 Copper Moon Turquoise decor was selected. This decor features a genuine copper surface that, thanks to hand finishing, exhibits the natural-looking patina of oxidized copper.

The Homapal genuine metal finish transforms the long bar counter into a real eye-catcher, offering seating for a large number of guests. The modern design, enhanced by its high-quality finish, creates a connection between contemporary restaurant charm and the building’s historic architecture.
